CERTIFIED
KINTSUGI FACILITATOR TRAINING
Learn the art. Hold the room. Teach what repair can reveal.
A one-day, in-person facilitator certification for therapists, educators, coaches, creatives, and group leaders who want to bring Kintsugi into workshops, retreats, organizations, and professional settings.
What is Kintsugi?
Kintsugi is the Japanese practice of repairing broken pottery so that the fracture remains visible rather than disguised.
The repaired object does not return to what it was before. Its history becomes part of its form.
That principle is at the heart of this training: learning the craft itself while developing the patience, presence, boundaries, and skill required to guide others through an experience of breaking and repair.
This is not a craft workshop
This training is about learning to lead.
It required presence, pacing, and the ability to guide people through frustration, perfectionism, tenderness, and pride without turning the room into group therapy.
You will learn the Kintsugi process, yes—but more importantly, you will learn how to hold the space.
You will leave with the preparation to lead groups with clarity, steadiness, and artistry.
What you’ll learn
What you’ll be able to do after this training
Facilitate the method: materials, break/repair process, gold lines, finishing
Run a room: timing, pacing, setup, and troubleshooting without fluster
Hold clean group boundaries: creative depth without turning it into therapy
Facilitate safely: manage frustration, shame spirals, perfectionism, shutdown
Use language that works: prompts, cues, transitions, closing circles
Create repeatable outcomes: a workshop people rave about and recommend
Ethics + scope
Design your offering: pricing, structure, audience fit, and marketing basics
Lead groups in your own style: not scripted—supported
If you’re bringing Kintsugi into clinical or high-responsibility spaces, we’ll cover scope, consent language, and how to keep your role clean.

You want to teach creativity and depth without it becoming trauma-heavy, overly personal, or vaguely “inspirational”
You care about the beautiful metaphor and craft of Kintsugi and believe it can be used to help heal others
You’re ready to lead, create a niche, and have other revenue streams
Who this is for
Kintsugi is Harder Than It Looks
It takes longer than you think.
It asks more of you than you expect.
And it has very little interest in rushing to meet your timeline.
This training isn’t built around quick wins, immediate mastery, or feel-good crafting. It’s built around learning an art form that requires steadiness, patience, and the willingness to work through moments of frustration, uncertainty, and imperfection—both in the material and in yourself.
Kintsugi asks for attention, care, and the ability to stay present with something that does not resolve quickly. Facilitating it well requires even more: the capacity to guide others through their own edges without rushing them, rescuing them, or turning the experience into something it isn’t.
This training may not be for you if:
You want a fast, casual, one-and-done craft experience (totally fine—just not this)
You have little tolerance for slow processes or repetition
You prefer constant stimulation over sitting, observing, and waiting
You dislike being gently challenged in how you approach mistakes
You want something purely inspirational without skill-building
You’re not interested in working through your own impatience or perfectionism
You’re hoping to teach this after only a casual introduction
You resist structure, feedback, or refining your technique
You want immediate mastery rather than a process that unfolds over time
You’re looking for a quick certificate without practice or feedback
You want the focus to be emotional processing rather than learning to teach an art form well and facilitate an experience
You cannot tolerate practice, feedback, or repetition
You’re not interested in the boundaries, and responsibility involved in leading groups
You dislike structure, timing, and skill-building (we’ll do all three)

MEET THE INSTRUCTOR
Kintsugi came to me through grief.
After my mother died, I found her collection of Kintsugi pieces that she had brought home after her travels to Japan. I never knew about them and didn’t know to ask. But I am sure their brokenness meant something to her. She did most everything with exuberant intention.
I began repairing a broken mug with gold and the process became a way to sit with what was shattered.
Since then, I’ve taught hundreds of people this practice. I’m a therapist, certified teacher, and longtime mindfulness instructor. My passion is training others to lead Kintsugi in a way that is skillful, ethical, and deeply human.
The task isn’t to return something to how it was. The task is to work with what is now here.
What Participants Are Saying
The workshop was excellent. It was the perfect blend of content and experiential exercises. I would highly recommend it.
I really enjoyed the small group format and that we were all therapists. Jen did a wonderful job explaining real-world applications. I feel like I left being able to lead a kintsugi workshop or group. Thank you!!! It was really fun to build up to the "smashing" portion of our day. I loved how we all supported one another.
Jen is a gifted Kintsugi practitioner. She has a great deal of experience both in the applicability of Kintsugi in different settings and with different types of client issues. She encouraged us to think about how we could use this creative art form given our own interests and the types of clients we work with which I found very helpful. The experience itself was a very personal inner process that taught me more about somatic practices and enabled me to notice my own growth since the first time I did a kintsugi workshop with her years ago. It also gave me a window into other areas I'm still on the growing edge of. She did a beautiful job creating a safe container for us to be open and vulnerable with one another which added to the richness of the content. She also shared a lot about her own experience as a Kintsugi instructor doing workshops with different types of people in different settings and discussed particular things to be aware of and watch out for and how to handle various pitfalls that can come up. That was especially useful as all of us consider doing Kintsugi workshops out in public. Great training and I truly appreciate her generosity in sharing her materials with us!

-
This training is designed for therapists, educators, coaches, retreat leaders, wellness professionals, creatives, and others who facilitate groups and want to offer Kintsugi experiences in their own communities or professional settings.
You do not need to be a therapist, artist, or experienced Kintsugi practitioner. What matters most is an interest in the practice and a willingness to learn how to guide others with presence, skill, and appropriate boundaries.
-
No. No previous art, pottery, or Kintsugi experience is required.
You’ll learn the repair process during the training, including materials, preparation, application, troubleshooting, and finishing. Just as importantly, you’ll learn how to teach the process to others in a way that allows room for imperfection, frustration, discovery, and creativity.
The goal is not artistic perfection. It is becoming comfortable enough with the process to guide someone else through it.
-
Yes, when it falls within your professional scope, competence, and ethical responsibilities.
For licensed mental health professionals, Kintsugi can be thoughtfully incorporated into clinical work, groups, retreats, or psychoeducational experiences. The training addresses consent, pacing, boundaries, emotional responses that may arise, and the distinction between facilitating a Kintsugi experience and providing psychotherapy.
Certification as a Kintsugi Facilitator is not a mental health, art therapy, or clinical credential and does not expand an individual’s professional scope of practice.
-
Certified facilitators may design and lead Kintsugi experiences in a variety of settings, including community workshops, retreats, wellness programs, professional organizations, educational settings, private groups, and clinical environments when appropriate to their professional scope.
You’ll learn how to adapt the experience for different audiences while maintaining the core principles, structure, and integrity of the work.
Certification does not authorize you to train or certify other Kintsugi facilitators using the Be Here Now Certified Kintsugi Facilitator curriculum.
-
Your training includes the materials needed to learn and practice the Kintsugi process, along with a 50+ page Certified Kintsugi Facilitator manual designed to support you after the training.
You’ll leave with practical resources for preparing materials, facilitating the process, troubleshooting common challenges, structuring workshops, and beginning to develop your own offerings.
-
Certification is the beginning of the practice, not the end of it. After completing the training and certification requirements, you’ll be invited into the Certified Kintsugi Facilitator community for continued connection, shared learning, resources, and opportunities to deepen your facilitation.
You’ll also have access to ongoing support as you begin designing and leading your own Kintsugi experiences.
